Tips to resume your career after a break

New things happen every now and then. Yesterday is history. You might have been having a great time till yesterday, but it is not necessary today, or even a difficult phase of life might come to an end. There are times when situations are such that you need to take a break from work, it might be due to a shift in place of stay, marriage, or during pregnancy, or after having a child. As a woman, it is a little difficult start again, you need to adjust and then resume your work Here are some tips to help you resume your career after a break: 

1. Let your employer know your story: Once you have taken a break and then you want restart you’re with again, anybody will be curious to know the reasons. Let your employer get an idea about what made you take a break. This will rather give you confidence.

2. Never have a break up with your career: Yes, do not completely stop working. You can devote 1 hour of your day to your work. This will keep you up to date and confident about your knowledge. You will never consider yourself a mere struggler.

3. Tweak your resume, re upload it: It is okay that you couldn't work for straight six months due to your pregnancy, why not revise your resume, let the new employee seekers know what you are capable of and why did you stop working.

4. Build a strong network: Do not bring out your ego at your work place. Build relations with your colleagues. They are not just your colleagues; they are also your friends. Having goodwill among the team will let you earn your place back quite quickly.

5. Let social media do its magic: Update about things happening in your life onto some social networking site like Facebook. This will act as a proof and guarantee of why did you take a break from work. 

6. Keep yourself involved: When you are on a break with your work, involve yourself in some activities. Do not rust form around your mind. This will never let you slow down.

7. a little bit of practice: Even the greatest sports persons require practice before they make a comeback. Therefore, polish and hone your skills again before you rejoin.

8. Your previous job will help you: Remember that you have taken a break. It means that you have been working before. This means that you are experienced. So, use your skills in a smarter way. Your resume should show your experiences.

9. Never give up on opportunities: You are looking to make a comeback, you might get an opportunity less than what you deserve. Don't give it up. Do it for some time. Practice again.

10. The interview saga: Prepare for your interviews. Do not be over or under confident about your previous work. Remember it is a fresh start!
